ITS-UK receives hospitality from NZTE On 22 May NZTE and the Intelligent Transport Society for New Zealand (ITS-NZ) hosted the AGM of ITS-UK at the Penthouse suite in London. ITS-NZ and ITS-UK signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in October 2006 pledging to work together through the open exchange of information, contacts and best practice. Rod James, President of ITS-NZ, said: “Holding this AGM at New Zealand House was a great opportunity for us to put the MoU into practice by offering tangible support to ITS-UK and by getting New Zealand in front of the UK’s transport industry leaders. We want to get New Zealand technology companies networking with industry leaders who are looking for transport solutions. When you put these people in a room together the ideas just flow and they come up with innovative ways of working together.” (Presentations made by the main ITS UK interest groups) Neal Skelton, Head of Professional Services for ITS-UK, commented: “We knew the MoU had to be more than a paper exercise. It’s about developing and cementing real relationships between people. We really appreciate ITS-NZ and NZTE’s hospitality at this stunning venue.” Jennie Martin, Secretary General of ITS-UK, added: “I think it’s a world first for one ITS to be hosting the AGM of another country’s ITS. It shows that we have a warm relationship.” Tait Europe sponsored the AGM lunch and gave a presentation about the work they are doing with the buses for London Transport. ITS-NZ and ITS-UK are hoping to meet again for a social networking event at the ITS World Congress in Beijing in October this year. |
